Daily Heretic: Whit's Sons of Horus

It's always great to see players going the extra distance and still building older marks of armour without using the new Forgeworld kits. Whit has put together this Mk II Son of Horus using various parts across the GW range.

Daily Heretic: Dobermann's Iron Hands

Dobermann has recently begun converting his Iron Hands army to pre-Heresy, with plenty of eye candy over at his blog. Making full use of the resources from Maxmini and Forgeworld, he has begun converting a new assault squad to suit the ancient feel of pre-heresy armour.

Daily Heretic: Space Wolves Grey!

Adam over at Space Wolves Grey has posted some excellent models of pre-Heresy Space Wolves, including a customised Space Hulk Librarian. I particularly like the choice of colours for this army as they really capture the pre-Heresy feel of the force.

Daily Heretic: Knights!

Long thought to have been buried with old Epic rules, Imperial (and Eldar) Knights are single-man piloted robots, akin to Titans but much smaller. Their often mislabelling as Titan has undoubtedly lead to a few oversized models appearing over the years, but King Fluff seeks to fix this over-scaling in a world of hyperbole.
Over on Warseer, you can follow his efforts at creating a new breed of knights, cunningly re-sculpted from the Blood Slaughterer chassis.

Daily Heretic: Recon marines

In the Collected Visions artwork, there are numerous illustrations of 'Recon' marines. They range from what we know now as scouts, to fully power armoured astartes. Some are geared with what appear to be Las carbines, some with communications gear. This may be another case of artistic license, but the range of pictures suggests something more.

Such units don't exist in 40k, largely due to scouts filling the role. In the 30k era this is not necessarily the case. Regardless, just one picture of something novel is enough to inspire people. In this case, it has.

Over on the Great Crusade forums, there's an ongoing showcase of people's Recon marines. Check out their work and show us your own! Pictured here is one of Ilmarinen's White Scars.

EDIT: It seems my hint of a competition in the thread has turned into an official competition. Get to work Heretics!

Forge World : TYBEROS THE RED WAKE

Following the excited response to a converted model from Will Hayes' collection, it seems Forge World made full use of his efforts and have now released his MkV-styled Terminator model as Tyberos from the Badab War.

From the Forge World Tyberos page:
Tyberos was presumed to be the commander of the Carcharodons Chapter during their unlooked-for and savage intervention in the Badab War, leading his Terminator-armoured brethren in bloody assault after bloody assault from the notorious battle barge Nicor. Tyberos gained a dark fame for his brutal combat prowess and the two unique power weapons with which he carved a path of mangled and shredded corpses through the Secessionist forces. Known as ‘Hunger’ and ‘Slake’ these ancient relic-gauntlets, which combine barbed power blades with an inner maw lined with vicious teeth, are of a pattern and manufacture unknown to the Adepts of Mars.
